Our Story

I never would have found my life's calling if it weren't for my first and only child. Before my daughter, I was never able to find that one thing to pursue that fulfilled me while also supporting my family. Through the joy of seeing your children’s joy in my designs, I have found that with Lilot.

When my daughter was born, I became a stay-at-home mom. And while I had always admired those who thrived at home with their children, it did not work for me. I did find myself buying lots and lots of bamboo, however. Soft, cozy and beautiful, both me and my daughter fell in love with bamboo clothing.

During this time, I discovered my daughter’s cotton bedding was aggravating her keratosis pilaris, a benign skin condition that leads to dry and easily irritated skin. I noticed she was getting red, chapped cheeks, and after doing some research I realized that the bamboo I loved so much for clothing could be the answer I was looking for. I decided to switch her bedding to bamboo. It worked wonders — her chapped cheeks disappeared. I have also had keratosis pilaris my entire life and, inspired by this transformation, I started incorporating bamboo into my own life. Suffice to say we had become a bamboo household!

However, I also noticed a challenge — finding the right prints. As my baby grew into a toddler, with her own Opinions™ about what she wants to put on her body, it became harder to find clothes that had the whimsy and classic beauty we both love. Especially designs that cater to her imagination while still full of the intricate detail bamboo makes possible. Designs that were neither cartoonish, nor the muted color palette that has become so popular.

And so Lilot was born. Whimsical clothes for magical children.
